Homeowner Profile: ‘Ammonite’
We speak to the owner of our exclusive shoot location ‘Ammonite’ about her experience hosting location shoots and working with Fresh Locations…
‘Ammonite’ is a beautifully refurbished Victorian house in South West London, combining timeless architectural charm with sleek, modern interiors, making it a standout shoot location in the Fresh Locations portfolio. With its light-filled open-plan living spaces, polished finishes, and soft neutral tones, this four-bedroom property offers a versatile and stylish backdrop for film and photography projects. Recently, we spoke to the owner about her journey in transforming this elegant home, her thoughts on hosting shoots, and what makes ‘Ammonite’ such a sought-after location…
What appealed to you about listing your property as a shoot location?
We purchased the property just before Covid, and at the time, it was a complete wreck. Over the past 4-5 years, we’ve poured our hearts (and a lot of effort) into transforming it into a beautiful home. With the help of a brilliant team and the guidance of our architect—who actually suggested listing it as a shoot location—we decided to give it a try. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see creative projects come to life in a space we’ve worked so hard to design and care for. Plus, the idea of seeing our home featured on screen or in campaigns is really exciting.

Can you tell us about the journey of creating your home?
We had lived on the same road for many years and always loved the house at the end of the road, even though it was neglected and overgrown and in need of a lot of love. The garden was a forest, and vines were creeping into the house. When it came up for sale, we decided to try our luck—and we were both thrilled and completely terrified by the prospect of trying to make it liveable. From that point, we’ve poured everything into transforming every inch of the property, restoring it to try create a warm family home. While there are still parts that remain a work in progress, it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey to bring it back to life.
What has influenced the style of ‘Ammonite’?
I like a mix of old and new, and I love that calm, effortless Californian style of designers like Amber Lewis. I think the house itself reflects a blend of traditional architecture that’s been pared back and combined with a more modern extension. It’s all wrapped in a soft, muted palette with lots of natural textures and light. My goal is for the space to feel simple and calm, and I think true calmness comes from paying attention to all the small details—those little touches that you don’t consciously notice but that create a sense of harmony and ease in the space – our architect Reah from Detail Architects, was amazing at this. She has a great eye, and really helped bring this vision to life.

Has your home’s design evolved over time, or do you have a consistent style?
It is always evolving! We’ve lived in the space for about 18 months now, and there’s still lots I’d like to do, but I’d hope it’s an evolution in the same vein, and not a real departure from where we are.
Do you have any favourite design elements in your home?
I think two spaces are my favourites… we spend 99% of our time in the big living / dining / kitchen space and I love how it works for our family. In terms of a design element, I really love the pitched roof and exposed beams in the master bedroom – it change the whole feeling of the space, and makes it a real retreat.
You recently hosted a shoot for Young Living and GHD through Fresh Locations. What has your experience been like with working with Fresh Locations?
Working with Fresh Locations has been such a smooth and pleasant experience! The team is professional, organised, and very thoughtful – and we’ve had some really brilliant opportunities come up through them. They’ve made the entire process stress-free, and the shoots themselves have been a joy to host, with all the clients been really friendly, super professional and respectful of the space. So far it’s been a joy and we’re sure it will continue that way.

How do you prepare your home for a shoot day?
We’re pretty tidy people naturally, so we try to keep the spaces uncluttered and ready to go at short notice – but we’ll always do a good tidy and make sure everything is clean and clear. We try to keep it all quite neutral so the client can put their own stamp on the space. We also set up a bit of tea/coffee/drinks space for crew, make sure everything is well-stocked, and we’ve got a short Welcome Booklet with all the key information they might need.
What advice would you give to another homeowner considering listing their property as a shoot location?
I’d say, go for it! But be sure to communicate clearly about any concerns or boundaries you might have. Also, take the time to declutter and make the space as welcoming as possible. We find it actually helps us keep our home better, and it’s really not that much effort to prepare for. Most importantly, enjoy the process—it’s fun to see your home through someone else’s creative lens.
Have you learned anything new about your home through hosting shoots?
Yes! It’s amazing how certain features of the home that we might overlook on a daily basis suddenly stand out during a shoot. For example, the way light hits certain rooms or how versatile some areas are—it’s like seeing the space with fresh eyes!

With its blend of stylish minimalism and contemporary elegance, ‘Ammonite’ is a standout choice for location shoots. The home’s refined interiors, abundant natural light, and thoughtfully designed spaces make it an inspiring setting for film, photography, and commercial projects.
