Homeowner Profile: ‘South Wing’
We speak to Laura Sawyer, the owner of our shoot location ‘South Wing’ about the interior style of her home and working with Fresh Locations…
‘South Wing’ is a meticulously refurbished Victorian home in South London, seamlessly blending heritage charm with modern and mid-century design elements. With its high ceilings, parquet floors, large sash windows and confident use of colour, the property strikes a balance between sophistication and playfulness. With statement furnishings, bold design choices, and a spacious layout, South Wing offers a versatile and visually rich setting ideal for film and photography shoots. Owned by Laura Sawyer, founder of The Detail by Laura Sawyer, the home reflects her expertise in creating immersive and thoughtfully designed spaces. We spoke to Laura about the evolution of ‘South Wing’ and what makes it such a memorable location in the Fresh Locations portfolio…
What’s the story behind how you found and created your home?
I actually lived just around the corner and somehow had never spotted the house before. But when it was shown to me, before it went on the market, I just knew it had to be mine. I love the flow of the house and have always dreamed of a Victorian double fronted detached house! Creating it was a whole other challenge. I project managed and designed the home myself. But before I could get into paint colours, vintage furniture sourcing and light fittings, I had to replace all the rotten floor joists downstairs, fix 4 chimneys, put in central heating and electrics and fix a lot of structural and damp issues! I loved it though.

What influenced the interior style and overall aesthetic of your property?
Paired back, organised, chic. Willy Wonka. Wes Anderson. Les Brotherstone. Fashion. I love everything to have a place, a purpose and to add little surprises.
What aspects of your home do you think will appeal most to production teams?
I’ve chosen the colours very carefully in the house. They all work in harmony together. And each room is different. Meaning that you could shoot for a few days and get lots of different looks from the space. It’s got really beautiful natural light and the space is easy to work in. I’ve tried to think how I would want the space to work for me if I were styling a shoot here. All the furniture is moveable and there are lots of great spaces to shoot through.
What appealed to you about listing your property as a shoot location?
I work in the industry, so know how useful it is to have a beautiful and well thought out space. It made sense for me to list it as a secondary income stream.

Do you have any dream film, brand, or photographer you’d love to see shoot there?
Oh sure, let’s book a Wes Anderson film, sponsored by Net-a-Porter, shot by Miles Aldridge!
Do you have any advice that you would give to another homeowner considering listing their property as a shoot location for the first time?
Don’t be precious. Be curious.
Are there any design elements or details that you love most about your house?
The picture windows in the bathroom and bedroom overlooking the forest garden. The views across both the hallway and landing. The colour drenched green spare room. And the lollypopesque Murano glass pendant light in the hallway.

With its mix of heritage features, colourful interiors, and a refined yet playful design approach, ‘South Wing’ is a standout setting for film, photography, and commercial shoots. The home’s spacious layout, carefully considered styling, and abundance of natural light make it a versatile and memorable location.
